While the buzz is building that Grand Theft Auto IV will be the biggest video game release
ever, the leaked copies of the software are making it onto the Internet.
The pirated copy is reportedly available for the PAL version of the Xbox 360. A group that calls
itself iCON is making the pirated files available. Bootlegged copies of Grand Theft Auto IV are
finding their way to torrent sites across the Internet.
Although it is yet unclear if the 6.32 GB download is the entire game, and while only a PAL
version is currently available, the rumor mill is churning about an NTSC version of the pirated
program coming online in the next few days. ICON warns downloaders not to play the game
while connected to Xbox Live until next week.
Neither Rockstar nor Microsoft itself have yet responded to Kotaku's requests for comment.
Neither has Sony commented on any action it might take regarding video of the game being
played on its network — video that GameTrailers, for its part, has since pulled — so it's
unclear yet how any of them plan to address the software pirates.
Xbox Live's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, did say, however, that he was unable to comment yet
due to the "need to look into this further," so we can assume that Microsoft, at least, is
investigating.

A peek at Gamercard aggregator
MyGamerCard.com reveals a long list of Xbox
360 users already racking up achievements on
Grand Theft Auto IV since an illegal torrent of the
game was leaked yesterday and early copies
started showing up in people's homes.
As seen on Xbox Live players are already racking up achievements for GTA 4 displayed on their gamer cards. Now if you are stealing software, do you really want to dance with it in the store parking lot? I'd think not -BG Staff
